Reg returns home from work to find a VHS video through his letterbox. The video, which was recorded just hours before Des' capture, is a personal message to Reg. Des explains that the noise of a police car is one he used to love, but now hates. He also apologises for his part in the Sun Hill fire which killed six officers, and claims that throughout his career as an officer, Reg was his best friend. He finishes by saying sorry for all the horrible things he has done.
