Past ron smollett

P.C. Ron Smollett.

PC Ron Smollett transferred to Sun Hill in 1990 following Richard Turnham's transfer to Special Branch and he replaced Cathy Marshall as the collator. He was one of Sun Hill's finest officers. Honest, hard working, a team player, and best of all, a results man. Striving to end every case with criminal proceedings, Ron sometimes punched too far above his weight – and often angered members of CID when pushing them to get a result on a case. He had pounded the beat for years.

In 1992, Smollett is put in charge of the Community Police Office. After a few problems, it was set up and ready to go. However, a fire bomb was thrown into the office when Ron was inside. The fire was too much for him to handle so he escaped through a window. He was lucky to have survived. An investigation was carried out and using his local knowledge, they found a suspect. He was revealed by Conway that he would get an accomodation and that he would a new office in 2 weeks.

Never downhearted, Ron pushed on with every case that came onto his desk. He decided to leave Sun Hill in March 1993. Also, let off a parking violator in return for having his drive gravelled.

In 2018, actor Nick Stringer recorded a two-part interview for The Bill Podcast.
