Episode Chronology:
Sgt. Cryer is accompanying P.C. Edwards and W.P.C. Brind for her six-monthly probationary assessment. They investigate a report of a man dressed in a white robe and carrying a cross from a church, which is found hanging from a crane. While searching for the man, they come across a woman driving a car erratically with a small white dog in her lap. The dog is knocked down by a truck after escaping from the car. The robed man is found on a bridge, having tried to "baptise" a woman in a canal. Edwards swims across the canal after the man, who thinks he is Christ, infuriating Cryer. A further attempt to catch him results in Cryer being "exorcised", before he is finally arrested on a building site.
