Glyn Grain was born in London and trained at the Drama Centre in London. He has worked extensively on stage and screen as well as spending six years with the National Theatre in productions such as Hamlet, Macbeth, Undiscovered Country, Strife, The Women, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, Plunder, Larkrise, The Passion and Troilus and Cressida.

Other stage performances have taken place at the Derby Playhouse, Scarborough Studio, The New End Theatre, Cambridge Theatre, Leicester Haymarket Theatre, the Royal Court and West End theatres Haymarket, Vaundeville, Savoy and Piccadilly. His stage work has included productions including Time of My Life, Breaking Legs, Wildest Dreams, Partners In Crime, Oh What A Lovely War, Make and Break, Quartermaines Terms, Show Me The Way Home and Savages.

In a packed career Glyn has appeared in several films including A View From A Parked Car and The Tartan Case. In 1991 he appeared in the crime film Let Him Have It alongside actors Serena Scott Thomas, Eileen Atkins and Ronald Fraser and the following year he appeared as De La Cosa in the film Christopher Columbus: This Discovery alongside Tom Selleck, Marlon Brando, Rachel Ward and Catherine Zeta Jones.

Glyn's television work includes appearances in Eleanor Marx, The Princess, Hammer and Sickle, It Takes A Worried Man, Travelling Man, The Fortunes of War, Rockliffe's Folly, Wish Me Luck, Between The Lines, Class Act, In Suspicious Circumstances, The Bill, Cracker, 99-1, The Chief and Wycliffe. He played John Raynor in Final Cut, Marek in A Touch of Frost and Councillor Stillwell in Pie In The Sky. On 20 November 1996 he joined Coronation Street for six months as prison inmate Fraser Henderson who would woo Liz McDonald in one of the shows most turbulent relationships.
