Episode Chronology:

Wheels is the 1503rd episode of The Bill.

Sgt. Boyden, D.C. Proctor and P.C. Hagen hit the streets of Sun Hill in the station's new "Crime Car", an unmarked rapid-response vehicle introduced as one of Ch. Supt. Brownlow's initiatives. When the Borough Commander, Ch. Supt. Mannion springs a surprise visit on Sun Hill, Brownlow is eager for his idea to show positive results. Unfortunately, a series of blunders occur - the C.A.D. room is disabled when an electrician cuts the main power line, and rivalry with the Territorial Support Group sees the Crime Car impounded by the council for being parked illegally, after Proctor drops the flashing light out of the car. D.I. Deakin is furious when Proctor's sole arrest for the day is wrongful, and pulls him from the Crime Car project. When Proctor is assaulted by his suspect outside the station, the Crime Car and TSG van take off in pursuit, resulting in a nasty PolAcc and the destruction of the car. Meanwhile, Sgt. Cryer receives a startling confession from one of the prisoners in custody.
