PC Roger Valentine returns to work after his enforced holiday. The reality of Sun Hill quickly catches up with him with a warm welcome from Inspector Gina Gold who pairs him with PC Lewis Hardy. They are called out to a burglary to find a Polish lady, panicked by the burglar now lying outside her back door with a shot wound in his leg. Trainee DC Kezia Walker together with DC Terry Perkins get on the case to find out where the husband who shot the firearm may have got to. Bizarrely, the lady wholly ignores Kezia, completely fixated on her male colleagues and when more of the team get involved in the case, we see just how much is she drawn to men of a certain age…

Elsewhere, Sergeant Dale Smith and PC Reg Hollis stop a car which is thought to have been on the scene of an assault the previous night. They take the driver, who turns out to be under the influence of alcohol, back to the station, where DC Zain Nadir recognises him as an accomplice to his undercover target, drug baroness Kristen Shaw. Zain receives a phone call from her in a hurry to retrieve the car, which belongs to her, but what else Kristen is hiding remains to be seen. Zain and DS Phil Hunter disagree on how much time to invest to get the most out of the situation. Zain persuades Phil to support and trust him fully as he is determined to bring Kristen down. Shunting himself further into the underworld, does Zain overestimate his powers with the gorgeous business woman?

A second call out that afternoon sees Roger and Lewis chasing a discriminating stalker who has been terrorizing a local transsexual lady. The dispute is resolved but it does not go unnoticed that Roger handled the situation with some aggression. Lewis covers his partner’s back and Roger is surprised to discover to be able to open up to an unexpected person...
