Peter Armitage was born 27 September, 1937 in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. He is a British actor who is best known for playing Bill Webster in Coronation Street between 1997 and 2011 and Jim Butler in 1992's short lived mini-series Sam Saturday. Armitage also knows as on-screen guest roles in Chimera, The Bill, Lovejoy, Bullman, The Professionals, Emmerdale, The Sweeney, Heartbeat, Peak Practice, Chandler & Co, The Vet, Dockers, Circles of Deciet, The Royal, Fat Friends, Casualty, Holby City, Medics, Strangers and Woof!.
In February 2014 it was reported that Peter had beaten bowel cancer. He was expressed interest as returning as Bill Webster, especially after Michael Le Vell was cleared of abuse charges and due to return as Kevin Webster.
